Objectives of the Role
Online Learning Facilitators (also referred to as Academic Tutors) are responsible for delivering online teaching within vocational and higher education programs offered by Curio’s clients and partners. This role involves facilitating learning in accordance with the provided course design, including established curriculum, assessments, and marking criteria.
The primary objective is to ensure a high-quality, engaging, and supportive learning experience for all students. Facilitators are expected to meet or exceed client-defined benchmarks for student satisfaction, including maintaining a Teaching Pulse score of 4.0 or higher (or equivalent, as defined by the partner institution), and achieving required evaluation standards.
This is a general Expression of Interest (EOI) for experienced Human Resources professionals interested in upcoming opportunities as Online Learning Facilitators.
Key Responsibilities
- Webinar Delivery: Plan, schedule, and deliver live and/or recorded webinar sessions in alignment with the course design or as directed by the Course Coordinator.
- Academic Delivery: Facilitate learning activities (e.g., discussion forums, group tasks) and assessments based on the provided course content.
- Assessment & Feedback: Mark and provide feedback by participating in assessment moderation processes and submit results per Course Coordinator instructions.
- Student Engagement: Maintain active communication with students through approved channels and offer timely and accessible academic support, tailored to student needs and client intervention protocols.
- Team Collaboration: Attend course administration meetings and participate in coaching sessions and peer learning activities.
Skills & Qualifications
- Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (aligned with TEQSA AQF+1 requirements), and/or extensive professional or industry experience in the relevant subject area.
- Substantial work or practice-based experience, and significant industry experience in the related subject matter
- Demonstrated skills and contemporary teaching experience relevant to the discipline being taught; online teaching experience is highly regarded.
- Academic profile reflecting the teaching capacity required to lead students in intellectual inquiry suited to the nature and expected learning outcomes of each Course
- Demonstrated active engagement in continuing scholarship or industry activity relevant to the discipline they are teaching and facilitating where delivering higher degrees such as postgraduate awards (e.g., Masters)
- Knowledge of contemporary developments in the relevant discipline of the Course informed by their own continued learning or practice
- Sufficient proficiency with the relevant software and other technology required to perform their role effectively
- High level written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisation & planning skills
- Confidence and resourcefulness in learning new technologies
- Experience using Learning Management Systems (Canvas, Moodle, etc.)
- The ability to demonstrate high levels of empathy for the challenges experienced by online students
- A passion for helping online students succeed both academically and personally
Additional Information
- Online Learning Facilitator roles with Curio Faculty are fully remote and offered on a contract basis.
- Facilitators based in Australia must hold a valid Australian Business Number (ABN) or Australian Company Number (ACN).
- A current Working with Children Check (if required by the client/partner).
- All facilitators must complete reference checks and qualification verification prior to engagement.
