Objectives of this role
The primary goal of this position is to support the financial operations of Curio by managing and recording daily financial transactions, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and assisting with accounting and payroll functions. This role is crucial in maintaining the financial health and integrity of Curio.
Key responsibilities and duties
Accounting
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for multiple entities and in multiple countries in Xero, including managing accounts payable and receivable, paying suppliers and reconciling bank statements.
Communicate with internal teams, vendors and clients regarding invoices and payments, ensuring issues are resolved promptly.
Processing journals to accurately record financial transactions.
Support the preparation and filing of BAS, GST and other tax and statutory obligations.
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Support the development and execution of budgets and financial plans.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies and procedures.
Payroll
Accurately process payroll for all employees and contractors, ensuring compliance with Australian PAYG tax, payroll tax, superannuation regulations and other legislation.
Support payroll processing for international employees and contractors.
Assist in the preparation of payroll tax filings and other payroll-related documents.
Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
Ensure accurate reflection of payroll transactions in the general ledger.
Resolve payroll queries and issues in a timely manner.
Finance Support
Assist in identifying areas for financial improvement and cost savings.
Collaborate with the COO & Head of People and Culture and other departments to support Curio’s goals.
Participate in cross-functional teamwork and financial planning sessions.
Meet deadlines for financial reporting and compliance tasks.
Maintain high accuracy and attention to detail in all financial activities.
Perform other related duties as required to support Curio’s goals.

Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Qualification as a fully-qualified "CPA (Certified Public Accountant)" is essential.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in payroll processing with an understanding of Australian payroll legislation.
Proficiency in Xero accounting software and Microsoft Excel is essential.
Experience in the education sector is a plus.
